Miss Peregrine

Ms. Peregrine is in charge of the loop that Jacob finds. Without that loop all the peculiar children would  be dead or really old, but with it they live the same day over and over again. Ms. Peregrine helps Jacob find out more about his grandfather's past. She keeps all the children together and safe from hollows, without her they would be in the world and they could be eaten by hollows. But later, she got trapped into the bird shape, and couldn't change back just yet.

"So Bronwyn set her on a dry patch of sand, and we all stood back and waited. Miss Peregrine hopped a few times and flapped her good wing and then swiveled her feathered head around and blinked at us—but that was it. She remained a bird." (page 228)
