In this way, it's easier to have all the citizens under control. Tally also became a bubblehead as well, her memory of the Smoke faded, only vivd memories left were ugly and painful pasts. She enjoyed in New Pretty Town, Tally also made a new boyfriend Zane, completely ditching David.

A message from past

With high-tech luxury and the nonstop parties, it's such fun and cozy to live. But as time passed, Tally started to realize something's wrong. Then a message from the Smoke arrived. Tally and Zane managed to climb on top of Valentino Mansion Tower, they found a key and opened a room that was specifically reserved for Tally. Then, a letter from herself in the past displayed in front of Tally's eyes, also two pills neatly folded inside the letter. Suddenly Tally remembered what's wrong with being pretty, and everything from her old past. [Zane slowly lowered the sheet of paper, his eyes wide. "It's a letter, and it's addressed to you." "A letter? Who from?" "You, Tally." His voice echoed softly from the metal walls of the shack. "It's from you." (Westerfeld, 87)]
